Goals from Luiz Araujo and Leo Pereira gave Brazil's Flamengo a 2-0 home victory over Bolivian side Bolivar in the first leg of their Copa Libertadores round of 16 clash on Thursday.

Araujo gave the hosts the lead just before the half hour at the Maracana stadium with a cool finish after Pedro's perfectly weighted through ball on the counterattack.

Pereira doubled the advantage a minute from time when he latched onto Araujo's corner with a bullet header that left goalkeeper Carlos Lampe with no chance.

The return leg will be played at the high altitude of La Paz next Thursday.

In the only other Copa Libertadores fixture on Thursday, Uruguay's Nacional were held to a goalless home draw by Brazilian club Sao Paulo.

The hosts had 14 shots on goal, only two of which were on target, while Sao Paulo controlled 65% of total possession but had only two shots on goal.
