Chinese Super League club Beijing Guoan announced on Monday that their defender Li Lei sustained an ankle injury in a recent game.
Li suffered a sprain to his left ankle after being kicked by an opposing player during Beijing Guoan's 2-1 loss to Wuhan Three Towns on Sunday, the club said in a statement.
The defender was taken off in the 22nd minute of the game, and a subsequent physical examination revealed damage to his left ankle ligament and cartilage, according to the statement.
Li is expected to be sidelined for one to two weeks, the Beijing club said.
