Scientists said a weekend snooze is crucial for school-age children to catch up on the sleep they miss out on during a busy week. [Agencies]

A study published in the Journal of Sleep Research, suggests a weekend lie-in is just what youngsters need to reduce their risk at becoming obese by 30 percent, the Daily Mail reported.

Scientists who have studied children aged ten and 11, have found that those who slept in on Saturdays and Sundays were much less likely to have weight problems.

They believe the weekend snooze is crucial for school-age children to catch up on the sleep they miss out on during a busy week.

In the process, it helps to regulate calorie intake by reducing snacking during waking hours.

據(jù)英國《每日郵報(bào)》報(bào)道,《睡眠研究》雜志載文稱,小孩可以通過周末睡懶覺的方式來使自己肥胖的幾率降低30%。

科學(xué)家通過對10至11歲的小孩進(jìn)行研究發(fā)現(xiàn),周六日賴床的小孩產(chǎn)生體重問題的幾率較小。


他們認(rèn)為,對于學(xué)齡兒童來說,周末賴床是把繁忙的一周里所缺的覺給補(bǔ)回來的關(guān)鍵所在。

賴床使小孩醒著的時(shí)間變短,他們吃的零食也就相應(yīng)減少,熱量攝入便得到了控制。
