The second edition of the Beijing International Film Festival officially kicked off on Monday evening, with an opening ceremony held at the National Convention Center, China.org.cn reported.

About 300 Chinese and international filmmakers, industry executives and movie stars, including Andy Lau, Zhang Ziyi, Tsui Hark, Feng Xiaogang, James Cameron and "The Avengers" star Jeremy Renner, walked the red carpet before the ceremony.

This year, the festival still doesn't give out awards to filmmakers, but is planning to do so next year, according to Li Qiankuan, Vice Chairman of the festival.

More than 260 films from across the globe, many of which have never been shown in theaters in China before, will be screened during the festival. The festival runs from April 23 to 28.

據中國網報道，周一，第二屆北京國際電影節在國家會議中心舉行了開幕式，由此正式拉開帷幕。

約300位國內外電影工作者、業界高管、電影明星走上開幕紅毯，其中有劉德華、章子怡、徐克、馮小剛、詹姆士·卡梅隆、《復仇者聯盟》的男星杰瑞米·雷納等。

今年，電影節仍不會給電影工作者頒獎，但據電影節副主席李前寬講，電影節計劃明年設獎。

全世界260多部影片將在電影節期間展映，其中許多影片以前從未在國內影院放映過。電影節從4月23日起持續到28日。
