US President Barack Obama is seeking to increase pressure on North Korea to abandon its nuclear weapon programs by visiting the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) on the border between the two Koreas on Sunday before a nuclear security summit in Seoul, Reuters reported.
The White House has said on Tuesday that Obama's visit to the border will be a direct sign of support for South Korea..
North Korea announced it would launch a satellite to mark the centenary of fonder Kim Il-sung's birth next month.
The U.S. responded by saying that such a plan violates the nuclear moratorium deal and scuttles the resumption of food aid.
