India Urges Cooperation Between Indian, Chinese Lawyers
Adjust font size:

Indian Minister of Law and Justice H.R. Bhardwaj has called for cooperation between the lawyers of India and China, according to a press release issued by the Law Ministry.

Indian and Chinese lawyers have the potential to compete with their counterparts from the West if they join hands, he said while meeting a delegation of Chinese lawyers in New Delhi Wednesday evening.

Stressing that a common jurisprudence would benefit both countries, he said India had been keen on developing ties with China in all spheres.

Bhardwaj said information technology could help the lawyers of both countries in faster settlement of disputes in courts. Tools like laptop can enable lawyers easy access to getting their clients' grievances redressed speedily.

He told the delegation how India was trying to take justice to the doorsteps of the people living in the countryside through the proposed village courts.

The Law Ministry is examining a proposal to set up courts for resolving commercial disputes as well, Bhardwaj said.
